Heart Attack Related to Darvon / Darvocet

A heart attack is the defined as the interruption of blood supply to the heart which causes cells within the heart to die.  Darvon and Darvocet have been linked to heart attacks in cases across the U.S.  In many cases, the people affected by these heart attacks have been otherwise, healthy individuals.  The linkage between Darvon and Darvocet to heart related complications has prompted the FDA to remove the drug from the shelves. 

The active ingredient in these drugs is called "propoxyphene" which is used in other "pain killers".  This drug has already been banned in the United Kingdom after they experienced harmful side effects from the drugs that contained this pharmaceutical.

Heart Attack Signs

Some heart attacks are "silent" meaning, they don't give any signs prior to the onset.  In other cases, the heart attack victim experiences the feeling of nausea, tingling on the left side of the body (including the arm, chest and neck) and anxiety.  There are several other precursors that have been described including chest pain, shortness of breath and dizziness.  Some of these symptoms are similar to that of an anxiety attack so you should check withy9our doctor if you have experienced something similar.
